GREECE — A 33-year-old man was arrested Friday after a standoff with police that lasted several hours at a Dewey Avenue apartment.

Carlos Flores of 2856 Dewey Ave #2 faces multiple charges including menacing and resisting arrest following the incident that began around 1:32 a.m.

Officers from the Greece Police Department initially responded to a reported menacing incident near 2854 Dewey Avenue, where a suspect allegedly threatened a woman in front of the residence.

After interviewing the victim, who confirmed the incident and expressed desire to press charges, officers observed a vehicle associated with Flores.

Police said Flores began shouting incoherent obscenities at officers from a second-floor window when they approached.

Officers established a perimeter and treated the situation as a barricaded subject incident.

Despite several hours of negotiation attempts using a PA system, phone calls, and assistance from family members, Flores refused to surrender.

According to police, Flores continued shouting threats, threw items from apartment windows, and repeatedly threatened to shoot responding officers.

At one point, Flores appeared at a window waving what appeared to be a handgun, police said.

Shortly after 6 a.m., Flores exited the residence and charged at officers with his hands concealed inside his hoodie.

A Greece officer deployed one round from a less-lethal shotgun when Flores raised his fists and continued making threats, striking him in the midsection.

Flores fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by patrol officers with assistance from a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.

He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Police executed a search warrant at the apartment but did not recover a firearm.

Flores was charged with second-degree menacing, two counts of third-degree menacing, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest.

He was transported to the Monroe County Jail to be arraigned in CAP Court.
