GLENMONT — A 34-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly making threats to the public and law enforcement, according to the Bethlehem Police Department.
Joshua R. Case was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 a.m. on May 13 by officers from the Bethlehem Police Department, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Police.
Authorities said Case, who was staying at the Quality Inn on Frontage Road, made several threatening phone calls to a nearby Stewart’s Shop and to the Bethlehem Police Department.
Police described the calls to law enforcement as “irrational in nature.”
When officers attempted to contact Case at the hotel, he was uncooperative, prompting authorities to evacuate sections of the Quality Inn while negotiators spoke with him.
After several hours of negotiations, Case exited his hotel room without incident.
Case has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony, and aggravated harassment in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Following his arraignment in Town of Bethlehem Court by Judge Kirby, Case was released under the supervision of Albany County Probation.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 3 at 4 p.m.
