BARTON — The Lady Rangers Travel Basketball program has formed a partnership with the Barton Hub to give back to the community through fundraising, advocacy and volunteer work.
The three Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) teams began their collaboration with the local nonprofit last week. The fourth-grade team created donation boxes to be placed in all schools attended by Lady Rangers players across the district.
The Barton Hub, located in the basement of the Barton Municipal Building, provides two community meals weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. and operates the Giving Pantry from noon to 3 p.m. on those same days.
As part of the partnership, the teams will create wall art to brighten the meal site. The high school team will host a round robin tournament at the end of May with proceeds benefiting the Barton Hub.
The fourth-grade Lady Rangers, who recently concluded their season with a 10-0 record and won all three tournaments they entered, will continue coordinating donations for the Giving Pantry despite their season ending.
The seventh-eighth grade team also won their most recent tournament over the weekend. Both the seventh-eighth grade and high school teams will continue playing through May.
Community members are encouraged to donate items for the Barton Hub’s Giving Pantry through the donation boxes placed in local schools.
