GREECE — Detectives from the Greece Police Department executed a search warrant at Dewey Ave Mini-Mart following complaints of illegal cannabis sales, authorities said Thursday.
The search, conducted at 2780 Dewey Avenue on May 1, resulted in the seizure of cannabis and U.S. currency.
The business owner, who was present during the operation, received a court appearance ticket for violations of Greece Town Code §94 related to unlawful possession and sale of cannabis.
Officials closed the store and prohibited it from operating until the owner reapplies for a building permit and resolves code enforcement violations.
The operation was conducted without incident and in coordination with the Town of Greece Code Enforcement Office.
Greece authorities noted that the Town Board voted on December 16, 2021, to opt out of allowing cannabis dispensaries and consumption sites under the New York State Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act.
As a result, cannabis sales remain prohibited within the Town of Greece.
