CATSKILL — A Bennington man faces multiple felony charges after New York State Police discovered approximately 60.9 grams of crack cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 87.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the driver and sole occupant, identified as Elvis E. Pigott, 51, of Bennington.
An Ulster County Sheriff’s Office deputy and K-9 partner Howie conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle, which positively alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the crack cocaine, leading to Pigott’s arrest.
Pigott was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
