Binghamton man wanted on 4 warrants arrested after brief struggle

BINGHAMTON — A Binghamton man wanted on four separate warrants was located and taken into custody by members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Strategic Response Group (SRG).

On Sunday, April 27, members of the SRG successfully located Christopher L. Knapp, 42, of Binghamton, at an address on Moeller St. in the City of Binghamton.

Knapp was wanted on four separate warrants, including felony burglary (Johnson City), felony probation violation (Gloversville), criminal possession of a controlled substance (Whitney Point) and failure to appear (Fultonville).

Knapp was observed working on a motorcycle outside the Binghamton residence.

Upon seeing law enforcement, Knapp ran inside and attempted to escape, struggling briefly with deputies before being successfully taken into custody.

Knapp was charged with obstruction of governmental administration in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor, and processed before being transferred to Johnson City Police to answer for his warrant.
