Jamestown woman faces charges after police pursuit in Busti

BUSTI — A Jamestown woman faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing police following a reported larceny from a local business.

The Lakewood-Busti Police Department located a suspect vehicle on March 11 at about 6:00 p.m. after being dispatched to be on the lookout for a vehicle involved in a larceny.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the operator failed to comply, leading to a pursuit, according to police.

Officers eventually stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Ashley N. Gorton, 40, of Jamestown.

Gorton was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, reckless driving, and operating without a license.

Additional charges include speed in zone, speeding, improper or unsafe turn without signal, failure to yield the right of way at intersection, failure to keep right, and moved from lane unsafely.

Gorton also faces charges of failure to use designated lane, passing a red light, driving to left of pavement markings, improper passing, speed unreasonable and prudent, and failure to comply.

She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Busti Court at a later date.
