Pedestrian killed in Middletown crash

MIDDLETOWN — A male pedestrian died after being struck by a car at the intersection of Washington Street and High Street Tuesday night.

Middletown police officers responded to the scene at approximately 9:48 p.m. after reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

Officers found a male with serious injuries lying in the roadway and a gray Toyota Camry with front-end damage nearby.

The pedestrian was transported to Middlesex Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Toyota sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries and was also taken to Middlesex Hospital.

According to preliminary investigation, the Toyota was traveling westbound in the right lane of Washington Street when it collided with the pedestrian, who appeared to be walking southbound and crossing Washington Street at the High Street crosswalk.

The Middletown Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the collision.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer E. Sanford at 860-638-4061.

The names of those involved have not been released.
