LEICESTER — Vermont State Police arrested two men following a domestic disturbance Sunday night, charging one with domestic assault and the other with driving under the influence.
Troopers responded to a residence on Leicester Whiting Road at approximately 11:22 p.m. on March 9 after receiving reports of a family fight.
Upon investigation, police determined that Gary R. Atwood, 23, of Leicester, had caused bodily injury to a household member.
Atwood was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police New Haven Barracks for processing.
He was later lodged at a correctional facility for lack of $200 bail and is scheduled to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on March 10.
While at the scene, troopers also spoke with a witness, Daniel C. Wiles, 23, of Brandon.
During their interaction with Wiles, officers observed signs of impairment and determined he had been in control of a motor vehicle on a public highway while under the influence.
Wiles was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and transported to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing.
Police said Wiles refused to take a breath test and was subsequently charged with DUI-Refusal.
He was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division on March 17 at 12:30 p.m.
