2 injured in Route 14A collision in Milo

MILO — Two elderly men were injured in a two-car collision Friday afternoon on Route 14A in the Town of Milo, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene around 5:13 p.m. along with Penn Yan Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance.

According to investigators, John E. Welc, 75, of Avoca, was traveling south on Route 14A when he failed to signal while making a right turn.

Richard T. Siegried, 79, of Lakemont, was following Welc’s vehicle too closely and was unable to stop in time, striking Welc’s vehicle from behind.

Welc was transported to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Both drivers were cited for traffic violations, with Welc receiving a ticket for failing to signal a turn and Siegried cited for following too closely.
