ESSEX — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday night on Park Street, police said.
Officers from the Essex Police Department responded to Park Street between the Five Corners and Silver Bow Terrace at 9:48 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of a male dressed in dark clothing walking in the roadway, according to a police statement.
While officers were en route, Essex dispatch received additional reports of a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at the same location.
Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male in the roadway who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle that remained at the scene.
Officers attempted to render first aid and initiated CPR before Essex Rescue and Essex Junction Fire arrived to perform advanced life support interventions.
Despite these efforts, the male was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The identity of the vehicle operator may be released later as the investigation continues, police said.

Authorities are asking anyone who was in the area of Park Street around 9:30 p.m. who may have witnessed the accident, seen the male pedestrian, or have surveillance video of the area to contact the Essex Police Department.
