St. Johnsbury police arrest local man on charges including assault

ST. JOHNSBURY — Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male stopping cars with a stick on Railroad Street on the evening of March 5.

Upon arrival, officers identified the individual as Robert Earl Turcotte, 60, of St. Johnsbury.

Following an investigation, Turcotte was taken into custody and transported to the St. Johnsbury Police Department for processing.

During processing, Turcotte assaulted Officer Johnson by punching and kicking him.

Turcotte faces charges of unlawful mischief, aggravated disorderly conduct, and simple assault on a law enforcement officer.

He has been cited to appear in Caledonia Court on April 21 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges.
