NEWPORT — North Country Union High School’s boys snowboarding team claimed the Vermont state championship at Jay Peak on Wednesday, while the girls team finished as state runners-up.
The Falcons dominated the competition across multiple disciplines. The boys team secured state titles in both the giant slalom and rail jam events, contributing to their overall championship.
The girls team captured the giant slalom state championship and finished as runners-up in the rail jam competition.
Individual performances highlighted the team’s depth of talent. Dakotah Bowen won the girls individual state championship, capping a successful season for the Falcons rider. Quinn Goff earned runner-up honors in the boys individual competition.
The competition, held on a rainy afternoon at Jay Peak Resort, featured top high school snowboarding teams from across Vermont.
North Country’s strong showing in both individual and team events secured their place among the state’s elite programs.
