Single-vehicle crash on US Route 5 in Barton

BARTON — A single-vehicle crash occurred on US Route 5 near the Pinecrest Motel in Barton at 7:23 p.m. on Jan. 17, prompting a response from the Vermont State Police.

Road conditions were reported as snow-covered, despite clear weather at the time.

The vehicle, a 2020 Jeep Compass, driven by Henri Cyr, 31, of Barton, sustained moderate damage during the incident.

No injuries were reported, and Cyr was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Initial investigation found that the vehicle collided with a guardrail before leaving the roadway, resulting in damage to the vehicle and nearby road signs.

Authorities discovered that Cyr was not at the scene upon their arrival.

He was later located and cited for failing to stop after a crash.
