ESSEX — Police responded to a family disturbance on Park Street on March 1 at approximately 2:24 p.m.
Officers conducted interviews and found that a 10-year-old juvenile had been choked during the incident, sustaining minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities arrested Jessie Mashteare, 21, of Essex, in connection with the altercation.
Mashteare faces charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault, cruelty to a child, and committing an offense in the presence of a child.
He was taken to Northwest Correctional Center with bail set at $5,000.
