“Thank you to Charla Nadeau, on receiving this honor and for the compassionate care you show to your patients and others,” North Country Hospital said in a statement.

The DAISY Award, an international program recognizing nurses for compassionate care, has been presented to more than 220,000 nurses worldwide. Over 6,500 healthcare facilities and nursing schools across 40 countries participate in the program, which has generated more than 2.5 million nominations from patients and families.

Nadeau was selected from nine nominations submitted by patients and family members through DAISY boxes placed throughout the hospital campus.

Along with recognition, Nadeau received “The Healer’s Touch” sculpture, carved from African stone in Zimbabwe by the Shona people. The artwork symbolizes the nurse-patient relationship.

Other nominees will receive DAISY pins from their nurse leaders.
