ST. JOHNSBURY — Police say a woman was stopped while driving the wrong way on Interstate 91 late Wednesday morning and has been charged with gross negligent operation.

At 11:14 a.m., Vermont State Police saw a Toyota truck traveling south in the northbound lanes near Exit 22.

Troopers pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Louise Hartshorn, 63, of Concord.

Hartshorn told police she had missed her exit and intended to turn around, despite knowing she was on the interstate and that it was illegal to do so.

She was issued a citation for gross negligent operation and released at the scene.
