LYNDONVILLE — A man was arrested Feb. 20 after attempting to exchange counterfeit money at a convenience store, according to the Lyndonville Police Department.

Police said a man entered the Cumberland Farms store at 957 Broad St. around 3:30 p.m. and tried to exchange fake currency at the cashier station.

An employee recognized the money as counterfeit and refused the transaction before contacting police.

Officers located the man, identified as 43-year-old Michael Tallman, at 731 Hill St.

Further investigation found him in possession of another counterfeit note, police said.

Tallman, who has no fixed address, was arrested and taken to the Lyndonville Police Department for processing.

He was cited into Caledonia Superior Court for an arraignment on April 28 at 8:30 a.m.

Police said there have been other reports of counterfeit money being circulated in the area.

The fake bills often contain markings indicating they are “movie money” and are not legitimate currency.
