NANTUCKET — A Nantucket man was arrested Friday afternoon after police seized approximately 5.67 pounds of suspected cocaine during a search warrant execution.
Francisco Fernandez Sanchez, 31, of 15 Youngs Way, was taken into custody without incident at approximately 2:19 p.m. on Feb. 7.
He faces charges of trafficking cocaine, 200 grams or more.
The Nantucket Police Department’s Detective and Patrol Divisions conducted the operation, which resulted in the confiscation of 2,574 grams of the suspected narcotic.
The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is $257,400.
The arrest followed an extensive investigation by the Nantucket Police Department Detective Division, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration Cape Cod Regional Office and the Massachusetts State Police.
Sanchez is expected to be arraigned in Nantucket District Court.
