FAIR HAVEN — A 19-year-old from Wells was arrested Jan. 10 following a high-speed chase that ended near the New York state line, police said.
Michael J. Wade was taken into custody after Fair Haven Police Department officers attempted to pull him over for a motor vehicle violation on Main Street at around 11:30 a.m.
Wade allegedly attempted to elude police, leading them on a brief pursuit before stopping on Route 22A.
During the incident, a 15-year-old passenger was found in the car with Wade.
Following the chase, Wade was arrested and issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court.
He faces charges of attempting to elude police, cruelty to a child, and excessive speed, in addition to numerous civil traffic violations.
Ptl. Thomas Covino of the Fair Haven Police Department is the investigating officer in the case.
