Oxford County man faces drug, theft charges after sheriff’s raid

HIRAM — Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies, alongside agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine State Police, executed a search warrant resulting in the arrest of a local man on multiple drug and theft charges Tuesday afternoon.

Officials raided the residence at 931 Tripptown Road around 2:30 p.m., where they apprehended 37-year-old Mark O’Brien of Hiram.

He faces charges including two counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule “W” drugs (Class A), two counts of furnishing Schedule “W” drugs (Class B), three counts of unlawful possession of Schedule “W” drugs (Class C), theft by receiving stolen property (Class C), and possession of firearms by a prohibited person (Class C).

During the search, deputies seized 143.6 grams of cocaine, 33.1 grams of fentanyl, 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, 59 doses of Suboxone, 10 Oxycodone pills, and materials associated with the production of crack cocaine and methamphetamines.

Additionally, seven firearms and one stolen chainsaw were recovered from the scene.

O’Brien was transported to the Oxford County Jail, where he was booked with bail set at $50,000.

Sheriff Christopher Wainwright stated that the successful raid was the culmination of extensive investigative efforts by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
