COLCHESTER — The Colchester Police Department has identified 69-year-old Cynthia Haselton as the victim of the Christmas morning fire at her home.
Officials announced the update Wednesday, stating that the cause and manner of Haselton’s death are still pending, awaiting results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Following the tragic incident, members of the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, working with Vermont State Police, conducted an on-site investigation to determine the fire’s origin and cause.
While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have said that the fire is not currently being treated as suspicious.
The police have encouraged anyone with information about the fire to contact Det. Sgt. Christopher Blais at the Royalton Barracks at 802-234-9933.
Information can also be shared through the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program (VATAP) by calling their hotline at 1-800-32-ARSON (1-800-322-7766).
VATAP is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in connection with the incident.
