COLCHESTER — A Massachusetts man faces assault and drug charges after allegedly threatening two people with a gun outside a convenience store early Tuesday.
Joshua Ealy, 26, of Adams, Mass., was arrested after police responded to a 911 call at 3:07 a.m. from the Maplefields store at 414 Roosevelt Highway.
A clerk reported that a man and woman had entered the store saying someone threatened them with a firearm.
Officers found the victims locked in a bathroom and detained two men exiting the store.
Police discovered a loaded 9mm handgun and a bag containing various drugs hidden on a shelf inside.
Security footage and witness interviews led to Ealy’s arrest.
Ealy was arraigned Tuesday in Vermont Superior Court in Burlington on charges including aggravated assault and drug possession.
The second man was released without charges.
No injuries were reported.
Winooski Police assisted at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
