BOSCAWEN — A Concord man was apprehended Tuesday evening following a high-speed chase that spanned several communities in New Hampshire.

At 7:01 p.m. on Aug. 6, New Hampshire State Troopers from the Troop F barracks engaged in a pursuit of a vehicle involved in property damage in Vermont earlier that day.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Christopher Hayward of Concord, had also eluded capture by Lincoln and Woodstock police departments.

The chase began when Hayward refused to pull over on Interstate 93 southbound in Thornton.

Despite the deployment of spike strips that deflated two of the vehicle’s tires, the pursuit continued with Hayward exiting I-93 at Exit 20 in Tilton.

He drove on rims into Franklin and then headed south on Route 3 toward Boscawen.

As Hayward neared another set of spike strips, he turned into a pull-off near the Merrimack County Jail and attempted to flee on foot.

However, Trooper Rees Davis and his K9 partner, Draco, quickly apprehended him.

Hayward now faces charges of aggravated DUI, disobeying an officer, three counts of felony reckless conduct, and reckless operation.

He is being held at the Merrimack County Jail pending arraignment at Franklin District Court.

State Troopers from Troops E and D, along with Franklin and Boscawen police officers, provided assistance in the pursuit.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact Trooper Rees Davis at (603) 451-9532 or via email at [email protected].
