Exeter police probe string of high-end vehicle thefts at local dealership

1 min read

EXETER — The Exeter Police Department is actively investigating the theft of two luxury vehicles from Foss Motors, marking the second such incident at the dealership in recent months.

The latest theft, reported on the morning of May 31, involved a white 2024 Dodge Durango SRT 392 and a gray 2021 Dodge Durango SRT, each valued at $50,000.

Police were alerted to the theft after two license plates, one from New Hampshire and another from Massachusetts, were discovered missing from other vehicles at the dealership and used on the stolen cars.

Surveillance footage obtained from nearby businesses captured three men arriving at the scene in a dark-colored Chevrolet sedan before entering the Foss Motors property at approximately 4 a.m.

Video evidence shows the suspects, with their faces obscured by hoods and gloves on their hands, driving off with the stolen Durangos and heading toward Route 101.

A witness later reported a close encounter with the white Durango on the Route 101 off-ramp to Interstate 95 in Hampton, during which his vehicle was sideswiped.

He also observed the gray Durango, sporting a smashed rear passenger window and a Foss Motors dealer plate, passing him on the I-95 south on-ramp.

This incident follows a February theft in which a white 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody and a red 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, each worth over $76,000, were stolen from the same dealership.

Those vehicles were eventually found in Boston, Mass.

Exeter Police Chief Stephan Poulin expressed concern over the pattern of high-end vehicle thefts and the town’s vulnerability due to its location near major highways.

He stated that the department plans to work with Massachusetts and federal authorities to address these interstate crimes.

As the investigation continues, the Exeter Police Department urges anyone with information to contact them at 603-772-1212 or provide anonymous tips to Seacoast Crime Stoppers at 603-431-1199 or online at seacoastcrimestoppers.com.
