Manchester collision leaves pedestrian in critical condition

MANCHESTER — A pedestrian was left in critical condition after being struck by a car on Pleasant Valley Road near Buckland Street on Friday night.

At approximately 9:03 p.m., Manchester Police responded to reports of a collision involving a sedan and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered that the pedestrian had been hit in the westbound lane and suffered severe, life-threatening injuries.

The injured pedestrian, a 74-year-old whose name has not been released, was rushed to Hartford Hospital and remains in critical condition.

Jose Medina, 57, of East Hartford, the driver of the sedan involved in the incident, was unharmed and is currently assisting police with the investigation.

The Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit and the Metro Traffic Services Reconstruction Team are working jointly to determine the cause of the accident.
