BRISTOL — A brush fire on Old Stage Road prompted a first alarm forestry response Saturday, as Bristol Fire Department and mutual aid partners fought to control the blaze that threatened nearby structures.

The fire, reported at 10:52 a.m., was met by fire personnel at 11:04 a.m. who found a large area of brush burning and quickly spreading up a slope.

Assistance from New Hampton, Alexandria, Franklin, Meredith, Ashland, and Bridgewater fire departments bolstered the response, while Hebron and Stewart’s Ambulance Service provided station coverage.

An estimated 10,000 gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire, which ultimately consumed around 2 acres.

Bristol’s fire apparatus, including Engine 2, Engine 4, Utility 1, and Ambulance 2, were deployed with a total of 10 personnel responding.
