Melrose police receive NEMLEC assistance during domestic disturbance arrest

MELROSE — The Melrose Police Department received assistance from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT Team during a domestic disturbance on Saturday, March 9.

At approximately 12:00 p.m., police responded to a home on Sylvan Street for a report of a past disturbance with firearms present.

The NEMLEC SWAT team, which includes specially trained negotiators, was called to the scene about 30 minutes later because police believed the suspect was armed.

The suspect surrendered without further incident at approximately 1:36 p.m.

Chief Kevin Faller stated there is no danger to the community but could not release additional details under the Massachusetts Domestic Violence Act of 2014.
