READING — A Reading police officer’s sharp eye led to the arrest of a Methuen man on multiple drug charges Monday afternoon following the observation of a suspected drug deal.

Kadell McCloud, 47, faces charges including possession of a Class A substance, possession of a Class B substance, failure to identify to a police officer, operating without a license, and being a fugitive from justice.

At approximately 2:55 p.m., the officer on routine patrol spotted what appeared to be a drug transaction in a business parking lot on Walkers Brook Drive.

The officer then trailed the suspect’s vehicle as it exited the lot and executed a traffic stop on the same road.

The subsequent investigation revealed that McCloud was driving without a license and had provided false information to the police.

A search of McCloud’s car uncovered drug paraphernalia and residue.

Further inquiries revealed that Salem, N.H., police had an outstanding arrest warrant for McCloud related to other criminal activities.

He was taken into custody and processed at the Reading Police Station.

McCloud was arraigned the following day, Tuesday, in Woburn District Court.
