1 min read

ARLINGTON — Police Chief Julie Flaherty provided an update Thursday on the investigation into the discovery of shell casings at Gibbs School.

The casings were found Wednesday morning around 9:30 a.m. by a staff member who then alerted School Resource Officer Bryan White.

The two 9 mm handgun casings were located on the main stairwell staircase at the school, located at 41 Foster St.

Additional officers and K-9 units were dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough search of the building, but no other casings or weapons were found.

The Arlington Police’s investigation led them to an individual who had been at the school for an event the previous evening.

The individual, who fully cooperated with police, appears to have accidentally dropped the casings.

After ensuring the safety of students, faculty, and staff, and determining there was no threat, the police have concluded that no charges will be filed and have officially closed the case.
