Lowell, MA man faces drug charges after traffic stop

LOWELL — A routine traffic stop by Lowell Police Department’s Gang Unit led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man on drug-related charges Monday.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was stopped by officers and subsequently charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license, distribution of Class A substance fentanyl, and trafficking of Class B substances powdered cocaine and crack cocaine.

The Lowell Police Department, referred to by the code LPD10, has been actively targeting drug trafficking within the city as part of an ongoing effort to combat the opioid crisis and related criminal activities.

Further details on the arrest or the quantity of drugs recovered have not been disclosed at this time.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court, where the charges will be formally presented.
