Colchester man charged in shooting incident over vehicle dispute

COLCHESTER — A shooting incident that broke out behind a residence on Ethan Allen Ave. late Friday night is believed to have stemmed from a dispute over a potentially stolen vehicle.

Colchester Police Department officials reported receiving multiple 911 calls at approximately 08:44 p.m. on Dec. 15, indicating shots fired behind 363 Ethan Allen Ave.

Investigators say Todd Kessler, 52, of Essex Junction, has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and driving under the influence for the third time (DUI #3) following the incident.

Kessler was released with conditions pending his appearance at Chittenden County Superior Court in Burlington on a date yet to be scheduled.

Authorities confirmed there were no injuries reported as a result of the shooting, and the event appears to be an isolated case.

The Colchester Police emphasize that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
