Brattleboro man arrested for attempted arson of local delicatessen

BRATTLEBORO –– A local man was arrested on charges of arson, reckless endangerment of another person, unlawful mischief, and trespassing after an apparent attempt to set fire to a local market and deli, according to police.

The incident took place at Gougers Market and Deli on Canal Street on October 24, as reported to the Brattleboro Police Department.

Following the investigation, Det. Sgt. Lynde arrested Dennis Mayotte, a 37-year-old Brattleboro resident, in connection with the incident.

Mayotte is currently being held on a $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 26, 2023.

In accordance with U.S. law, anyone arrested or cited by the Brattleboro Police Department is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
