Driver found dead in submerged car in Errol

ERROL –– A 21-year-old man was found dead in his submerged car in the Androscoggin River on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, according to the New Hampshire State Police.

The police received a call through E-911 at approximately 4:10 p.m. from a motorist reporting a vehicle completely under water, south of the town of Errol.

Errol Fire and Rescue and a state trooper from Troop F were able to respond within minutes of the call.

Upon arrival, first responders located the vehicle just under the water line on the east side of the road.

Unable to locate the driver or any passengers due to the depth of the water, the New Hampshire Fish and Game were called to respond with their dive team, as well as the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol. Milan Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

The vehicle was found approximately 50 feet offshore in about 12-15 feet of water.

The driver was identified as Michael Marshall of Littleton.

His car was identified as a blue 2000 Ford Mustang, registered out of Upton, Maine.

Marshall was the only person believed to be in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information on the crash to call Trooper Bryan Griffin at (603) 271-1170.
