WESTMINSTER –– A Bellows Falls man was arrested on an outstanding warrant Friday evening by the Windham County Sheriff’s Office after he was spotted walking alongside US Rt. 5 in Westminster.
Matthew Lawrence, 29, had an active warrant for his arrest due to failure to appear. Detective Sergeant M. Checchi of the Windham County Sheriff’s Office observed Lawrence entering a vehicle that had stopped on the roadside of US Rt. 5 around 6:15 p.m.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop on Westminster Street in Bellows Falls near the location where Lawrence was seen entering the vehicle.
Lawrence was then taken into custody and transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for processing.
Following the processing, Lawrence was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility due to lack of $500 bail.
The court date for Lawrence is set for Sept. 18 at 12:30 p.m.
