Man arrested on warrant, cruelty to animal charges in Bethel

BETHEL — A 26-year-old man from Tunbridge was arrested following an incident in Bethel.

Police say they were notified by Mindy Pike, that she observed a man punching a canine on Route 107 at around 3:00 p.m.

State Police contacted Colby W. Johnson walking on Route 107 with a German Shephard.

Following an investigation, police say that Johnson had an active arrest warrant for writing bad checks.

He was cited and released with an additional charge of animal cruelty.

He was released with a criminal citation and scheduled to appear in court on July 26 to answer for the bad check charge and on September 5 to answer the criminal charge of animal cruelty.
