ST. ALBANS — A 21-year-old man from Highgate was arrested following an incident in St. Albans yesterday.

Police say they observed a vehicle traveling west at 92 miles-per-hour in a posted 50 miles-per-hour zone while traveling east on Route 105 at around 5:30 p.m.

While troopers attempted to catch up to the vehicle, the vehicle was seen traveling in a negligent manner passing vehicles on corners at excessive speeds.

Police say a pursuit was not initiated, but the vehicle quickly went off the road into a field on Route 105 by Route 104.

Police identified the driver as Evan Whalon.

Police say Whalon confirmed he was trying to elude and had a criminally suspended operator’s license.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police St. Albans barracks for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear in court for the above offenses.
