COLCHESTER — A 42-year-old man from Highgate was arrested following an incident in Colchester yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction onto I-89 from exit 16 at around 11:20 p.m.

The vehicle was described as a black truck with no lights traveling at a high rate of speed north in the southbound lane.

Police say they immediately responded to the area and located the vehicle traveling north in the southbound lane at mile marker 95.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Daniel Jones.

While speaking with Jones, police say they observed several indicators of impairment.

After a roadside investigation, Jones was arrested for suspicion of DUI and gross negligent operation.

He was transported to the Williston barracks for processing, where he ultimately refused to provide an evidentiary breath sample.

At the conclusion of processing, Jones was released with a citation to appear in court on June 29 to answer to the charge of DUI #1 and gross negligent operation.
