Colchester man held without bail following assault

COLCHESTER — A man from Colchester was arrested on Thursday and charged with first-degree aggravated domestic assault, unlawful restraint, interference with access to emergency services, unlawful mischief, and offenses committed in the presence of a child.

According to the Vermont State Police, Timothy Hatgen, 29, physically assaulted a domestic partner, including strangulation, and destroyed property inside the residence.

He also physically restrained the victim from leaving the residence and prevented them from accessing emergency services.

The offenses took place in the presence of children.

Hatgen had left prior to police arrival.

A be on the lookout alert was issued for surrounding agencies to locate Hatgen, and he was subsequently arrested without incident during a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 89 in the town of South Burlington.

Hatgen was transported to the Williston Barracks for processing and held without bail at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.
