Snowmobile stolen from Walt’s Sales and Service in Derby

DERBY — Vermont State Police are seeking information after a snowmobile was stolen from Walt’s Sales and Service in Derby.

According to police, a red 2022 Lynx Rave 850 snowmobile, registered in Vermont under the license plate number 2373H, was stolen from a customer’s trailer parked in the lot sometime around 1:08 a.m. on March 19.

The engine of the snowmobile has manufacturer serial number MC019113.

Security video footage shows a small vehicle driving from Beebe Road to US Route 5, and individuals accessing trailers on the property at around 12:20 p.m. on March 19.

A different, larger vehicle later returned to the property at 1:08 a.m. on March 20.

An individual exited the vehicle, removed the snowmobile from the trailer, and drove it from the scene east on the VAST trail adjacent to Walt’s.

Anyone with information to contact the Vermont State Police barracks in Derby at 802-334-8881.

The victim of the theft has been identified as Joshua Allaire, a 34-year-old resident of Morrisville, Vermont.

The snowmobile is estimated to be worth several thousand dollars.

No suspects have been identified at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
