ROSELLE PARK, NJ — Roselle Park police arrested a suspect Monday after he fled officers near the Roselle Park Train Station and ran through residential yards toward the Roselle Park Middle School and Robert Gordon School area.

Police said officers were dispatched at about 12:53 p.m. on a report of a person standing on the train platform who was believed to be wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident earlier in the day.

When officers made contact with the suspect, he fled on foot, according to police.

Police said the suspect was seen running through neighboring residential yards and appeared to be heading toward the school area.

The nearby schools were placed into a shelter in place, police said.

A short time later, officers found the suspect in the open field behind the middle school and took him into custody without further incident, according to police.

Police said both schools were then notified that the shelter in place had been lifted.
