PENN YAN, NY — A woman faces six counts of animal cruelty following an investigation into conditions at a Town of Torrey residence.

Crystal Fiero, 43, of Penn Yan, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. March 4 at 227 Main Street.

She is charged with six counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide sustenance under New York Agricultural and Market Law 353.

Deputies said the investigation began in January at a Town of Torrey residence where Fiero was found in possession of five dogs and a cat in unsafe and unsanitary living conditions.

All six animals were seized and transported to the humane society to be examined and provided with adequate care.

Fiero was issued an appearance ticket and released to appear at Torrey Town Court at a later date.
