Woman arrested on burglary charge in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a woman on burglary and larceny charges following an investigation into a break-in in Newbury.

Colleen Rodriguez, 37, who is transient, was taken into custody without incident on Feb. 26, 2026, at a residence in St. Johnsbury.

Police said they received a report of a burglary on Feb. 22, 2026, at 12:57 a.m. on U.S. Route 302 in Newbury.

The victim was identified as William Haywood, 54, of Newbury.

Investigation revealed Rodriguez had entered Haywood’s residence and stolen various items, police said.

Police said Rodriguez also had an active probation and parole warrant for her arrest.

Rodriguez was transported to the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury barracks for processing.

She was lodged at Northeast Corrections Complex on the arrest warrant.

Rodriguez was issued a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court on March 25, 2026, to answer to charges of burglary and petit larceny.
