ROCHESTER, NY — A woman was seriously injured after being struck by a transit bus that was hit by a vehicle fleeing from state police on Feb. 17, 2026.
Members of the Troop E Community Stabilization Unit attempted to conduct a vehicle and traffic stop on a Chevrolet Trax for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations at approximately 10:54 a.m.
The suspect vehicle failed to comply and proceeded through a red light at the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Clifford Avenue, striking a Regional Transit Service bus.
Following the initial collision, the RTS bus struck a female pedestrian who was near the intersection.
The bus then came to rest against a fence on church property.
There was no reported structural damage to the church building.
The female pedestrian became trapped underneath the bus.
Members of the Rochester Fire Department extricated her from beneath the vehicle.
She was conscious at the scene but sustained serious injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.
The RTS bus was occupied only by the driver, who sustained minor injuries.
He was also transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
The suspect, identified as David Robinson, 42, of Rochester, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Forensic Identification Unit and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to the scene.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Rochester Police Department, the Rochester Fire Department and the Regional Transit Service.
