Man charged with criminal mischief, resisting arrest in Peru

PERU, NY — State Police charged a Plattsburgh man with multiple offenses following a domestic dispute on Feb. 14, 2026.

Kohen Laware, 26, of Plattsburgh, was charged with criminal mischief, resisting arrest and aggravated family offense.

At approximately 4:14 p.m., troopers were notified of a domestic dispute at a residence on Telegraph Road.

An investigation determined that Laware and the victim were involved in a verbal argument during which Laware became increasingly irate.

Laware then damaged the door handle of the victim’s vehicle.

The victim was able to leave the scene in the vehicle.

Troopers later located Laware.

When they attempted to place him under arrest, he fled on foot.

Troopers pursued Laware and issued multiple verbal commands for him to stop, advising that he would be tased if he did not comply.

A trooper subsequently deployed a Taser, and Laware was taken into custody without further incident.

Laware was transported to State Police Plattsburgh for processing.

He was arraigned in the Town of Peru Court and released under the supervision of probation.
