Man charged with murder in Shelby stabbing

SHELBY, NY — A Medina man is facing murder charges after a stabbing that left one man dead and another critically injured.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 disturbance call at 4643 South Gravel Road on Feb. 7, 2026, at approximately 11:55 a.m.

A deputy arriving at the scene encountered Aaron D’Angelo, 36, of Medina, who confronted the officer while armed with a knife.

The deputy deployed a Taser and subdued D’Angelo, who was taken into custody without further incident.

Additional personnel discovered two adult males inside the residence with multiple stab wounds.

Dale R. Lang, 65, was pronounced dead at the scene.

John B. Lang, 67, was transported to a Medina hospital with multiple stab wounds and later transferred to Erie County Medical Center.

His condition is unknown.

D’Angelo has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, menacing a police officer and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He is being held at the Orleans County Jail pending arraignment.

The Medina Police Department, Medina Ambulance, Shelby Fire Department and New York State Police Forensic Identification Unit assisted at the scene.
