LANSDALE BOROUGH, PA — A man faces multiple felony charges after fleeing the scene of a crash that injured two people.
Nazear Newton, 26, of Lansdale, was charged Feb. 4, 2026, in connection with a Jan. 30, 2026, crash at the intersection of South Cannon Avenue and Delaware Avenue.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:07 a.m. when Newton, an unlicensed driver, was traveling eastbound on Delaware Avenue and failed to stop at a posted stop sign, according to police.
Newton’s vehicle struck a Subaru Outback traveling northbound on South Cannon Avenue, injuring the adult driver and a juvenile passenger.
Both victims were transported by VMSC Emergency Medical Services to Lansdale Hospital.
The juvenile was later flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital for surgical intervention.
Newton fled the scene on foot but was located by officers a short time later.
Newton was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, accidents involving death or injury while not licensed, and accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, along with additional summary traffic violations.
The charges were filed in consultation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
Newton was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, pending formal arraignment and a preliminary hearing before District Justice Edward Levine.
