ROCHESTER, NY — A 32-year-old Rochester man was arrested following a child exploitation investigation conducted by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, SP Rochester and the Troop E Computer Crimes Unit.

Adam Edward Hawley was charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.

In September 2024, the New York State Police received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children related to the online sharing of child sexual abuse material through a social media platform.

The investigation led investigators to a residence on Alvin Place in Rochester.

On March 6, members of the New York State Police executed a search warrant at the residence and seized multiple electronic devices for forensic examination.

The devices were analyzed at the New York State Police Computer Forensics Laboratory, where investigators confirmed the presence of child sexual abuse material on several devices.

On Monday, Hawley voluntarily appeared at the New York State Police Rochester barracks and was taken into custody without incident.

Hawley was processed and released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Rochester City Court on Feb. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
