Man arrested on child sex abuse charges in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY — A Jamestown man faces multiple felony charges following an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.

Benjamin A. Christ, 18, of Jamestown, was arrested Thursday by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation stationed at State Police Jamestown.

Christ is charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A-II felony; first-degree rape, a class B felony; first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony; promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony; possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from the Troop A Computer Crimes Unit, conducted the investigation in the city of Jamestown.

Investigators determined Christ possessed child pornography and was disseminating child pornography.

Christ was pictured with a child, resulting in additional charges once the victim, who is less than 11 years old, was identified.

Christ was processed and transported to Chautauqua County Jail pending centralized arraignment.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
