HECTOR, NY — A 27-year-old man was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into the online dissemination of indecent material to a minor.
Franklin M. Zanker of Trumansburg was taken into custody after New York State Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Voorheis Road.
State Police at SP Montour Falls received a complaint in December reporting inappropriate online communications between an adult male and a juvenile female.
The investigation revealed that the suspect used social media platforms to communicate with the minor and engaged in sexually explicit video and audio interactions.
The investigation was adopted by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and included a forensic interview of the juvenile victim at the Chemung County Child Advocacy Center.
Evidence obtained during the investigation supported that the suspect knowingly engaged in and disseminated indecent material to a minor.
On Jan. 15, members of the New York State Police, in coordination with the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, executed the search warrant.
Zanker was taken into custody without incident and transported to SP Montour Falls for processing.
He was charged with disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree, a class D felony.
Zanker was arraigned at Schuyler County CAP and remanded to Schuyler County Jail.
An order of protection was requested on behalf of the juvenile victim.
The New York State Police are asking anyone who may have had contact with the suspect or who may have information relevant to this investigation to contact the New York State Police at (585) 398-4100.
